William L. Douglas, Sr. , 96, of East Falmouth formerly of Medway died August 10. He was the husband of the late Rita L. (Clement) Douglas.
Born in Milford, September 19,1923, the son of the late John and Florence (Metcalf) Douglas, Mr. Douglas had lived in Medway for most of his life.
Mr. Douglas served on the Medway Fire Department for 45 years, retiring as Assistant Chief. He also had worked for the U.S. Navy at the Naval Air Station in Weymouth where he retired as Deputy Chief.
Mr. Douglas served in the army Air Corps during World War II. His B24 was shot down while on a bombing mission in Germany and he was a prisoner of war for over one year.
Bill enjoyed watching the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was an avid follower on the political world, especially watching CNN. He also loved to be at the ocean and go boating.
He is survived by his son Mark Douglas and his wife Linda of Palm Coast, Florida and was the father of the late William L. Douglas, Jr. He was the brother of the late Jeanne Brinkman.
He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 14 in Evergreen Cemetery, Medway at 2:00 p.m.
