Melvin Smith, 71, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Mr. Smith was born December 3, 1948, in Atkinson County, Georgia, to the late Alex & Mary Davis Smith. He lived in the community most of his life and was a handyman, farmer and lawnmower repairman. Mr. Smith loved to fish, ride his lawn mower and eat coconut cake. He was a member of New Testament Holiness Church.
He is survived by his sisters: Virginia & Earl Raffield of Warner Robins and Mary & Jerry Stone of Pearson; several nieces and nephews, including Ann Deberry & Jeffery of Ocilla, Mindy Tucker & Russell of Fitzgerald and Dicie Sulatycki & Phillip of Deltona, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-niece and a great-nephew: Kayla Varnedore and Dustin Varnedore.
