Obituary

Robert E. “Reggie” Germain, 90, of New Bedford passed away Monday August 10, 2020 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Freda Lee (Mayer) Nason.

Born in Arlington, the son of the late William M. and Lillian M. (Crowe) Germain, he resided in Needham for many years before moving to New Bedford in 2000. He was a graduate of Arlington High School and studied at M.I.T. and several other post secondary institutions before embarking on a professional engineering career.

Mr. Germain was formerly employed as a construction project manager for New England Telephone Company until his retirement.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.

An avid traveler, Reggie and his wife had taken numerous trips across Europe, Northern Africa, Asia, and Latin America. His favorite destinations included Cartagena, Aruba, Tangier, Istanbul, Verona, Cordoba, Granada, Barcelona, and Amsterdam.

He is survived by his wife Lee; his daughter, Susan Biavati and her husband Luigi of Anguillara, Italy; his stepson, George Nason; three grandchildren, Courtney January, Matthew Manning, and Molly Manning; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Hudson, and Cameron January; and two step-grandsons, Logan and Alexander Nason.

Special thanks are due to Nicole Bettencourt and Maria Tavares who have for years provided him with culinary treats and cheerful teasing and loving care.

He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Germain.

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday August 14, 2020 at 9 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
