Guilhermina Monteiro (80) of Brockton died August 10th at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Miguel Monteiro.
She was born in Sao Filipe, Fogo, Cabo Verde, daughter of the late Mateus Goncalves and Etelvina (Barros) Goncalves. Guilhermina was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Church and loved her grandchildren, cooking, socializing with family and friends and was known as a mother to all in the neighborhood, step sons and step daughters.
In addition to her husband she is survived by 4 sons, Filipe Monteiro of North Providence, Rhode Island, Carlos Monteiro of Brazil, Mario and Manuel Monteiro both of Cabo Verde, 5 daughters, Sofia Monteiro and Maria Madalena Galvao both of Cabo Verde, Maria Goncalves and Elizabete Monteiro both of Brockton, and Marcelina Tavares of Taunton, a brother Pedro Goncalves of Scituate, a sister Alice Fontes of Brockton, 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Services from the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton Saturday August 22nd at 9 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E Main Street Brockton at 10 am. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N Pearl Street Brockton. Visitation in the Funeral Home Friday August 21st from 5-8 pm.
