Mary Martin passed away peacefully on August 8, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital. Mary was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts and is the daughter of the late Alida (Bourassa) and Henry Martin and sister to the late Pauline Martin, Doris Harriman, Philip Martin, and Leda Shawcross. She is also pre-deceased by her beloved nephews Frank Shawcross, Jr. and Joseph Martin. She is survived by her brother Robert Martin and his wife Lorraine along with many nieces and nephews that she loved as if they were her own children. Some of whom include Linda Chuairy and her husband Gabriel, Paul Shawcross and his wife Maribel, Lisa Martin, Elizabeth Delaiarrio, Julianne Frediani and her husband Christopher, Christine Shawcross, Steven Shawcross, and Justine Chuairy. Mary was a devout Catholic worshipping at St. Patrick’s Parish where she spent many years in service sewing baptismal and communal gowns for parishioners. She used to talk animatedly about her years of employment at Raytheon working on missiles and would recount her favorite episodes of “Everybody Loves Raymond” or “Seinfeld.” She spent countless hours crocheting, praying the rosary, and watching movies. Anyone who sat down with her to watch a movie knew to be prepared for her to spoil every scene right before it happened… she just couldn’t help herself! For many years she spent every Saturday afternoon with her sister Leda shopping, buying the best snacks, and going out to lunch. Mary was incredibly generous to her family over the years. Not only did she provide a loving home, but she also helped to pay for education expenses, dance classes, clothing, and many other fun activities her nieces and nephews loved. She will be incredibly missed by her family and they hope that there are plenty of “fra fries” for her to snack on in heaven.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a grave side service on Thursday August 13th at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Methuen. Miss Martin’s funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home 1400 Broadway Rd, Dracut. Online condolences may be shared at www.racicotfuneralhome.com
