SPRINGFIELD – Isabella (Smith) McKenzie, 77, of the North End section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 6, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Paisley, Scotland on March 15, 1943, a beloved daughter of the late Martin and Margaret Hannah (Arnott) Smith. She was raised and educated in Paisley and immigrated to the United States in 1968, settling in Chicago, Illinois. She later moved to Springfield in 1970 where she lived on Sterling Street in Springfield for many years. She was employed as a waitress for over 30 years at the former Santi’s Restaurant in Springfield. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting and trying her luck at many local bingo games. Her greatest joy was taking care of her ten grandchildren. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, William C. McKenzie who was Called Home in August of 1998; and her loving son, Crawford W. McKenzie who was Called Home on March 21, 2011. She leaves her two loving daughters, Julie M. Psilakis and her husband, George, of Franklin and Ann Hurley and her partner, David Murphy, of Springfield with whom she lived; her ten cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Sophie and Evan Psilakis, Andrew, Bryant, Ethan, Hannah and Crawford McKenzie and John “Jake” and Joshua Hurley; her dear brother, Jack Smith and his wife, Bonnie, of Springfield; her two dear sisters, Sally Murray and her husband, Hugh, and Marion Smith, all of Scotland; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the McKenzie and Smith families and friends. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Prayer Service on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Agawam Center Cemetery, 852 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
