Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Andrew S. “Andy” Turcotte, 95, of the Glenwood section of Springfield, passed into Eternal Life at the Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, MA on July 30, 2020. He was born in Willimantic, Connecticut on July 25, 1925, a beloved son of the late Francois X. and Helene G. (Berger) Turcotte. He was raised and educated in Springfield where he was a lifelong resident. Andy proudly served his country in the United States Army (PFC) during the Korean War (24th Division, 19th Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Company K). He received the Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. Following his military service, he returned to Springfield and worked for many years as a Draftsman Engineer with the family business: Turcotte Manufacturing Company in Agawam. He was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield. He delighted everyone with his quick wit, was an excellent photographer, and avid outdoorsman. Andy especially loved the time he spent in the Berkshires at his property in Peru. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice Y. (Roy) Turcotte who was Called Home on December 27, 2018.They were married on October 2, 1954 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield. He leaves his four children: Richard G. Turcotte and his wife, Meredith, of Gloucester; Rosemarie E. Schneiderman and her husband, Jeffrey, of Nazareth, PA; Monique C. Muns and her husband, Ronald, of Wilbraham; and John R. Turcotte of Wilbraham; his eight grandchildren: Courtney Turcotte; Danica McCann and her husband, Malcolm-Ishmel; Rylan Spence; Daniel Schneiderman; David Schneiderman; Tiffany Borsari and her husband, Douglas; Marissa Pinkus and her husband, Kyle; and Alexander Vasquez; his two great-grandchildren, Luca and Alivia Borsari; his daughter-in-law, Evelyn Solivan of Ludlow; and his many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his four brothers: Laurent G. “Larry” Turcotte; Jerome J. “Jerry” Turcotte and his wife, Lucille; Normand Turcotte and his wife, Cecile; and Raymond Turcotte and his wife, Marie. A private burial service in his honor will be held by his immediate family at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on October 2, 2020.
