Bonnie W. Twilley, 91, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, August 3, 2020, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas Georgia due to complications after surgery.
Ms. Twilley was born March 22, 1929, in Nauvoo, Alabama. Bonnie is preceded in death by her Husband, Marvin Twilley, parents, B.H. & Julie Herron Wakefield, and many beloved relatives. She is survived by her sister, Olga Wallace of Saragossa, AL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, step-grand and great-grandchildren. Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Following graduation from Carbon Hill High School, Bonnie attended Birmingham Business College and then embarked on her secretarial career with Joe H. Brady Associates in Birmingham. It was there she met Marvin, the love of her life and the rest is history. Their life together took them to Fitzgerald, GA where Bonnie continued her administrative career as secretary to Lawrence Kaminsky of Kaminsky Pants Company in Fitzgerald. Bonnie’s true calling, however, was in the courts. She became a professional court reporter serving Ben-Hill and Crisp Counties from 1975 until her retirement in 2003. Bonnie was very career oriented and served a term as President of the Georgia Court Reporter’s Association. Bonnie enjoyed music, travel, reading and sports.
Private burial will be at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama. A memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date and time when safe for all. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bonnie’s name to the charity of your choice.
