Worcester – Virgen M. Martinez, 66, of Worcester died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 19th in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.
Virgen was the loving mother of 7 children, Julio A. Leon of Orange City, FL, Julio C. Leon of Deland, FL, Johanna Rivera of Worcester, Alexa Leon of Worcester, Deborah Leon of Deltona, FL, Leslian Leon of Worcester and Iris Martinez of Worcester. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 brothers and sisters and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by a sister.
Virgen was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, daughter of Anicasio Rodriguez and Rafaela Rivera and moved to Worcester in 1985. She was a woman that showed an exceptional amount of love for all of those in her life. Virgen enjoyed knitting and was an avid dancer, especially salsa dancing.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, July 23rd from 6 to 7 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester (Face masks or coverings are required). Burial will be held privately in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
