Obituary

Robert Charles Jackson, 84, of Camarillo, California, passed away on July 10, 2020 at his home in Camarillo. Robert was born in Birmingham, Michigan to Lucius and Lula (Harris) Jackson on July 29, 1935. He graduated from Birmingham High on June 18, 1953. He joined the Army and proudly served his country. He retired from Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan as the Chief Laboratory Technician. Robert went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from California Lutheran University. After Robert’s retirement he became a commercial pilot for single and multiengine planes and he was most proud of being an Instrument Rated Certified Flight Instructor.

Robert had many hobbies but mostly enjoyed flying, woodworking, skiing, golfing, bowling, baseball, dancing, music and poetry writing. He played several musical instruments but was most fond of the drums. He received several awards and recognition including bowling, National Society of Pershing Rifles, the International Thespian Society, and Poetry writing. Robert was actively involved in the Lutheran Church and he was an energetic participant in the Oxnard Family Circle, a health and daycare facility offering activities for veterans suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s related diseases.
Robert is survived by his spouse, Cecelia Travick-Jackson also of Camarillo. Robert’s other survivors include two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Travick Sanders (Alton) and Cheryl Travick; nephews, Brad (Melanie) Jackson, and Chancellor Travick; nieces, Sheryl (Steve) Ross, Hillary Sanders, Rev. Karen (LeRoy) Sims and LaCretia Jackson, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lula Mae Harris Jackson and Lucius Jackson, his four brothers Walter, Eugene, Harris, and Lucius (Buzz, and his spouse Sondra).
