Joseph Lucien Louis Blanchette, 89, of Derry, NH, passed away on Friday July 17, 2020 in the High Point Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. He was born in Salem, MA on January 22, 1931, a son of the late George and Rose (LeBlanc) Blanchette. Joe was a Manager at New England Telephone prior to his retirement.
He had many names to go with his many tales. To his family he was Lucien, Dad, Grampy and Great Grampy. To his friends and many acquaintances, he was Joe. He was a true jack of all trades and enjoyed a challenge, his hobbies and interests were endless.
He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Kirchner and her husband Bob of Georgetown, MA, two sons, George Blanchette and his wife Joanne of Ipswich, MA and Joseph Blanchette and his wife Karen of St. Cloud, FL; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Louisa (Melcher) Blanchette and his sister, Lucille Gagne.
He is also survived by the many neighbors in Chases Grove, Derry. His family built a summer cabin in 1938. Upon his retirement in 1989, Joe moved up there converting the cabin to year-round use. During his health decline over the last few years, his neighbors made sure he could stay at home. His family is forever grateful for their love and care.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, memorial services will be held by the family at a time in the future when it is safe to gather again. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choosing.
