Kenneth J. Frey, 99, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, July 20, 2020, at his residence.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes interred at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, New York at a later date.
Mr. Frey was born November 18, 1920 in Port Chester, New York. He served his country honorably in the United States Army in World War II, being stationed in the South Pacific between the dates of 1943 to 1946. During his time, his battalion received the Victory Medal. In 1948, he married Florence Dugdale Frey. The pair were married 58 years until her death in 2006. Mr. Frey studied in night school and earned electrical certificates that led him to his job as Systems Operations Supervisor for Connecticut’s Central Valley Power Exchange, later Northeast Utilities. He moved to this community in 1998. He was a proud member of the Fitzgerald Country Club and was an avid golfer since his teenage years. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Frey Jr of Seattle, Washington who is married to Gretchen Shultz Frey and their two children: Christian Frey and Catherine Frey, both of Seattle and also by his daughter, Jeanne Frey Bolstridge of Fitzgerald, who is married to Steven Bolstridge and their four children and 11 grandchildren, Ken’s great-grandchildren: Ruth Bolstridge Admal and her two children Leyah and Om, Hannah and her husband Alvaro Leyva and their two children Catriona and Kendra, Martha Abigail and her husband Lauro Barzallo and their four children Natasha, Max, Matias, and Manolo, and John Bolstridge and his wife Emily and their three children Lincoln, Olivia, and Miles. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward “Will” & May Louise Moore Frey; his wife, Florence Dugdale Frey; and a brother, Willie E. Frey.
