Obituary

Ronald Silveira, 93, of New Bedford died Saturday, July 18, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Cecile (Allain) Silveira.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Manuel and Marie (Pimental) Silveira, he lived in New Bedford for all of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.

Mr. Silveira proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was formerly employed as a driver salesman for many years for various companies including Table Talk and Charlie's Chips. In retirement, he was employed as a driver for The Standard-Times.

Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Teamsters Union Local 59 and was also an original member of the Colonial Pines Golf League.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, bowling, dancing, playing cards and watching the Red Sox.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Silveira and his wife Barbara of Plymouth and William Silveira and his wife Debra of Lakeville; two granddaughters, Jennifer Katz and her husband Adam, and Nicole Silveira; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Charlotte Katz; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

His Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, New Bedford. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 8-9:15 AM, prior to the Mass, at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
