Donald B. Miles, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, July 18, 2020, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. David Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary on Tuesday.
Mr. Miles was born July 8, 1934, in Fayette, Alabama, to the late Belton & Gertie Newman Miles. He was a truck driver for many years working for Planters Warehouse, Dorminy Brothers, and Reaves-Kegebein. He was a hard worker who enjoyed his lawn mowers and tractors and loved to cut grass. Mr. Miles was ordained a deacon at the former Northside Baptist Church and was an active member of Arbor Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia “Jenny” Miles of Fitzgerald; two sons, David & Janie Miles and Jeff & Tammy Miles, all of Fitzgerald; three grandchildren: Jeremy & Lisa Miles, Erin & Jonathan Hester, and Matthew Miles; two great-grandchildren: Landon Miles and Jordan Miles; and two brothers: Merlon Miles of Fitzgerald and Ted Miles of Haleyville, Alabama.
The family requests that memorials be sent in lieu of flowers to the Arbor Baptist Church Building Fund, 1137 North Merrimac Drive Extension, Fitzgerald, GA 31750.
