Susan L. (Ford) Shenett 64 of Rockland, passed away peacefully at South Shore Hospital on July 16, 2020. Sue succumbed to a pulmonary illness that she courageously fought for over a decade.
Born in Brockton, raised in East Bridgewater, Sue was the daughter of the late Henry and Sheila (Adams) Ford and sister of the late Frances (Ford) Wilkinson.
Sue retired in 2016 after a career as a CNA for the VA Hospital in Brockton where she primarily cared for many convalescent patients in the final stages of life. While her daughters were young, Sue worked for the Rockland Public Schools as a cafeteria employee.
Sue had a warm, inviting personality. She always had a place for you at the kitchen table, a hot cup of coffee and a listening ear. She loved helping people and spent her whole life doing just that, oftentimes putting the needs of others ahead of her own.
Sue was a proud grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. In better years, Sue enjoyed a sport she called "chingin" which is a day trip to a local casino (usually Twin River) or on special occasion, Las Vegas. Sue also was a big fan of Dale Jr. #88 and loved attending the annual cup series races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with her family.
She leaves behind her husband Wayne E. Shenett. Sister Joyce (Charles) Brown of East Bridgewater, her two dedicated and loving daughters, Denise M. (Vance) Nichols of Clermont, FL and Lynn M (David) Shenett-Beaucaire of Rockland. Two grandchildren; Hailey Lynn Nichols and Blake Henry Beaucaire. Several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sue's life will be planned at the convenience of the family. Internment in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sue's memory to Hospice of The South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370
