Mr. Gaetano “Guy” Volpe, age 90, died suddenly, Wednesday February 22, 2006 in Medford at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Born in Riesi, Sicily, Guy was the son of the late Diega (Cianci) & Joseph Volpe. Guy was a Medford resident for the last 40 years, formerly of California, North End of Boston and Riesi, Sicily, Italy. Italy is where he spent is early childhood.
Guy came to the United States at the young age of 5. He lived in Boston´s North End and attended Boston School´s. Guy followed his brotherJoe to California and spent about 15 years in and around Santa Cruz. At some point Guy and his young family decided to move back east and settled in Medford.
Guy was a Tailor and a member and former Director of the Amalgamated Garment Workers Union. Past President of the Medford Circle Club. Member of the Forever Young Club and Senior Citizens Italian American Club both of Medford.
Guy was the beloved husband of Maria (Faillaci) Volpe. Devoted father of Joseph Volpe of Melrose, Tina Volpe of Milton and Robert Volpe of Woburn. Also survived by 7 loving grandchildren. Brother of Joseph Volpe of California.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Monday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
