Harold E. “Eddy” McDonnell, of Medford, July 12th. Beloved husband of the late Virginia A. (Lyman) McDonnell. Father of Jeanne Glionna and her husband Leonard of Medford, Susan Masci and her husband Frank of Foxborough, Michael McDonnell of East Hampton and the late Mary Doldt and her surviving husband William of Brockton. Grandfather of Chris, Jonathan, Josh, Katherine, John, Michael, Abel, Joey and Bryan. Great grandfather of Nathaniel, Evangeline, Mia, Gemma, Max, Ivy, Lucy, Harrison, Charlie, Emma and Lily. Son of the late Harold E. McDonnell and Mary E. Wachter. Brother of the late Vaughn McDonnell and Mary Jean Conklin. Eddy served his country honorably during World War II aboard the Battleship Missouri. He was present when the ship was anchored in Tokyo bay for the signing of the peace treaty. After his service with the Navy, he became a forecaster with the National Weather Service at Logan International Airport in Boston. He was an avid amateur photographer documenting family gatherings and events. Many weekends would be spent with Ginny taking road trips on his Harley Davidson or with family and friends playing games of pool. Always active and ready for a new challenge, Eddy completed the Boston Marathon twice. At the request of his family, services and interment are private.
