Porter - James Edward Fenderson Sr., 73, peacefully went home to be with the Lord at his home in Porter on July 7, 2020 with family by his side after a long illness. He was born in East Parsonsfield on July 12, 1946 a son of Maurice G. Fenderson and Grace Ruth (Watson) Fenderson. He attended Parsonsfield schools and was a 1964 graduate of Sanford High School. He married Linda Talbot on July 2, 1966.
James was always a hard worker. As a young man he worked at Keddy's Steel Mill in Windham, and at the same time worked at Dennis Welch's Saw Mill in Porter. Later he worked for Yudy's Tire in Westbrook. He then worked for many years at W.H. Nichols in Portland until his retirement.
James loved antique cars and traveling to car shows all over New England and beyond, as well as going to many swap meets. He was a member of Friends of Par-Sem and helped organize the annual Antique Car Show at Par-Sem Days. He also enjoyed watching old Westerns on TV, especially John Wayne movies. He loved spending time with his family and many friends, and above all, being with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Talbot) Fenderson of Porter. 3 sons, James E. Fenderson Jr. and his partner Alison Stacey of Porter, Bryan S. Fenderson and wife Darlene of North Baldwin, and Rusty E. Fenderson of Porter. A sister, Marie Cobb and husband Bobo of Cornish. 4 brothers: John Fenderson and wife Donna of Cumberland, Jason Fenderson and wife Linda of East Parsonsfield, Jesse Fenderson and wife Judy of North Baldwin, and Joel Fenderson and wife Lori of Hollis. 6 grandchildren: Alex Fenderson and wife Maddie, Tyler Fenderson, Charlee Ann Fenderson, Jayden Sue Fenderson, Ethan Fenderson and Emily Fenderson. 2 step grandchildren, John Washington III and Heather Howgate, and great grandchildren, Colby and Kayleigh. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
