Demian Wulf Arend
November 10, 1970 – July 9, 2020
Demian Wulf Arend of Salisbury, Mass., passed away July 9, 2020, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 49.
Demian is survived by his mother, Pamela Arend of Windham, Maine; his daughter, Eva Arend of Busan, South Korea; his beloved partner Sarah Rice of Salisbury, Mass.; his sister, Catherine “Cory” Paul of Gorham, Maine; and many special friends and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his father, Timothy Arend and his grandmother, Hildreth Bourn, with whom he had a special relationship.
Demian was born November 10, 1970, in Boston, Mass., to Pam and Timothy. He grew up between Newburyport and Wellfleet, Mass., graduating from Nauset Regional High School in 1988. From there he went on to Wheaton College in Norwood MA and UMass, Boston and then continued his passion for learning around the globe. Demian spent many years overseas teaching English, including several years in both Czech Republic and South Korea.
After permanently returning to the U.S., Demian became a graphic artist and a certified Web designer and an expert house painter. He ultimately settled on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where he met the love of his life, Sarah Rice. Sarah and Pam provided an amazing support system for Demian, particularly as he battled cancer over the last seven months.
All his life, Demian was a creative and talented artist. He began writing poetry and fiction as a teenager, and was a talented abstract painter as an adult. He was also a passionate fan of music and sports. His love of the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics was exceeded only by his love for his beautiful daughter, Eva, who is ten years old.
The family is making memorial service arrangements and will post a notice at the appropriate time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making contribution and condolences on the Demian Arend Memorial Fund to support his daughter.
