Rev. Steven A. Dottin, 69, of New Bedford passed away at home in his sleep on Sunday July 5, 2020.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of Margery V. "Ruby" (Heywood) Dottin and the late Duncan A. Dottin. He graduated from New Bedford High School, Class of 1968, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Class of 1973. and the Nazarene Theological Seminary, Class of 1989.
While serving in active ministry, Rev. Dottin pastored at Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in East Wareham, New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, Kansas, and Fall Creek Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also worked in several other churches in various capacities. He was currently a member of the International Church of the Nazarene in New Bedford.
In his younger years, he was a floor manager for Channel 6 in New Bedford and Channel 25 in Needham Heights. He was currently working with New Bedford Cable Access Television producing a religious ministry program as outreach to the community.
Steven was dedicated to his family and his ministry.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby; his daughter, Rebekah M. Dottin; four stepchildren, Steven Bingham, Jr., Timothy Bingham, Shelley Graham, and Rachel Bingham; and his former wife, Francie J. Dottin.
He is predeceased by his sister Carolyn M. Wilder.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday July 10, 2020 at 10 AM at the International Church of the Nazarene, 284 Pleasant St., New Bedford, with viewing at Church beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. The attendance capacity at church is limited to 70 people and all in attendance must wear face masks and practice social distancing.
