June J. (Spinola) Monteiro, 92, of New Bedford passed away on Monday July 6, 2020 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph Monteiro, Jr.
Born in Wareham, the daughter of the late Julius and Jennie (Lopes) Spinola, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Monteiro was formerly employed by Arista Sportswear until her retirement and spent her remaining years in the company of her family, most recently delighting in her first great grandchild.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by three children, Melody R. Monteiro, Robert J. Monteiro and his wife June, and Lisa A. Grota and her husband Stephen; six grandchildren, Kelly, Kerin, Justin, Jillian, Rebecca, and Ryan; a great-granddaughter, Violet Olivia; and many nieces and nephews special to her.
She was predeceased, and now reunited, with the late Doris Spinola, Dorothy Pina, and Robert “Benny” Spinola.
A graveside service is scheduled at Rural Cemetery on Monday July 13, 2020 at 12:15 PM. Alternative expressions of condolences, in lieu of attendance, are understood and also appreciated.
