FALL RIVER – Evelyn (Souza) Cordeiro, age 94, passed away at the Catholic Memorial Home on July 6, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis Cordeiro. Born in Tiverton, RI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Carreira) Souza. Evelyn was employed at Firestone and J&M Sportswear but worked for 25 years at Bayside Manufacturing. After retiring she was a volunteer for Foster Grandmother’s Program for the Fall River School Department. She was also a member of the Laurel Senior Club.
Evelyn is survived by her children Francis Cordeiro of Pennsylvania, Elsie Dolan Arruda of Fall River and Rosemary Affonso of Swansea; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Dawn Marie Cordeiro and siblings John and Joseph Souza, Mary Shannon and Rose Rego.
Evelyn’s funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Friday, July 10th here at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, F.R.
