Patrick B. Sullivan, a 43 year resident of Charlestown and formerly of Ardgroom, County Cork, Ireland, entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 89 years of age.
Patrick was born at home in Ardgroom, County Cork, Ireland on January 16, 1931, a son of the late Michael Sullivan and Margaret (Healy) Sullivan. He grew up in Ardgroom where he was educated and graduated from high school there. He immigrated to the United States 43 years ago after meeting his future wife while she was on vacation visiting Ireland. Patrick worked as a Painter with Costello Painting Contractors of South Boston for many years and was a retired member of Painters Union Local # 35. He enjoyed watching all Boston sports, reading all newspapers and gardening. His greatest enjoyment in his life was his wife and 2 sons and their wives, but most of all were his 6 grandchildren whom he cherished and enjoyed quality time with each one of them.
Patrick is the beloved husband of 43 years to Anne M. (Harrington) Sullivan. He is the devoted father of Michael and Erin Sullivan of Atlanta, Georgia and Brendan and Sara Sullivan of Charlestown. He is the loving Pop Pop to Rhodes, Luke, Ryan, Matthew, Ian and Emma Sullivan. He is the dear brother of Frances McEnery of London, England and the late John Sullivan, Donal Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Gerald Sullivan, Mary Thomas, Bridget O'Connor, Kathleen Fox and Eileen Kersse. Brother-in-law of Mary O'Sullivan of Kent, England, Catherine Dickinson of Wilmington, Betty Harrington of Newburyport, James Harrington of Arlington and Peter Neitz of Quincy. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews here and in England.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Patrick's visiting hours on Thursday morning, July 9, 2020 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M.(FACIAL COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED INSIDE FUNERAL HOME & CHURCH). His burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
