Jewel “Lorene” Walker Ballantine, 90, of Tifton passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020, at her residence. A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Kenny Kicklighter officiating. Mrs. Ballantine will be entombed at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Ken Cranford, Mark Cranford, Brent Cranford, Jack Douglas, Justin Douglas, Harmon Coarsey and Wendell Hall will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 28, 1930 in Tifton, Mrs. Ballantine was the daughter of the late Ollie Walker and Osie Spurlock Walker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William J. “Pappy” Ballantine; and one brother, Alfred Walker. She was previously employed at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida and retired from Tift Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Amaranth Club and loved gardening. She was also a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Berrien County.
Mrs. Ballantine is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Jack Douglas of Tifton and Pamela and Ken Cranford of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Christine Newsome of Tifton; three grandsons, Mark Cranford, Brent Cranford and Justin Douglas; four great-grandchildren, Erin Jewel Cranford, Emily Ann Cranford, Megan Frances Cranford and Noah Jack Douglas; special friends, Ruth Hall, Ola Morrow, Harmon Coarsey and Susan Franks; ; and special caregivers, Dr. Steve Rigdon and Paula Reaves.
