Doris Pisarchuk O’Rear, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, July 3, 2020, at The Phoenix in Albany, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve O’Neal officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the services are requested to be limited to family only.
Mrs. O’Rear was born October 7, 1931, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to the late Edward & Lois Bigelow Harold. She was a graduate of Plainfield High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Rutgers University. She moved to the community in 1974 and retired as an educator at Fitzgerald High School. She tutored children in her retired years and also volunteered at the Elementary School. She served as a missionary in Africa for 15 years as well. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her children: Paul Edward Pisarchuk & Anne of Lawrenceville and Vera Lynn White of Albany; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, George & Carolyn Harold of Sparks, Maryland and Paul & Faith Harold of Flat Rock, Michigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Pisarchuk; her second husband, Rev. Godfrey O’Rear; and a daughter, Lydia Wetzel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made payable to First Presbyterian Church, 234 Irwinville Highway, Fitzgerald, GA. 31750 for ministry at Mukinge Girls School Medical Mission in Zambia, Africa.
