Ruth (Itzkowitz) Ferreira, 97 of New Bedford died June 30, 2020.
She was the wife of the late Abilio "Bill" Ferreira.
Born in Woburn, MA, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was formerly employed at the Skipper Motor Inn for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed staying busy and always had a knitting painting or craft project going, her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and playing with her great-grandchildren .
Survivors include her son, Michael Ferreira and his wife Linda of Acushnet; a daughter, Linda Gauthier and her husband David of Rochester; a sister, Lillian McCalligett and her husband George of Somers, CT; 7 grandchildren, Justin Gauthier, Courtney Gonneville, Michael Ferreira, Jr., Matthew Ferreira, Jonathan Ferreira, Jarod Ferreira and Connor Gauthier; 11 great-grandchildren, Korbin Gonneville, Logan Gonneville, Zachary Ferreira, Theodore Ferreira, Ella Ferreira,Sophie Ferreira and Levi Ferreira; Caroline Gauthier, Thomas Gauthier, Greer Gauthier, Emory Gauthier; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late William “Billy”Ferreira and Richard “Ricky” Ferreira.
Her family will receive guests on Tuesday morning, July 7th from 9-9:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church in New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
