James Alexander DeWitt from Walpole Massachusetts passed on, on Sunday June 28th, 2020 after a long battle with Leukemia. He was surrounded by his family.
Jim was welcomed into the world on March 25, 1960 by Neal and Helen DeWitt. Jim grew up chasing after his older brothers Neal, Dave and Donn. Jim treasured his memories of summers in Maine with his mom, dad, brothers and grandparents, and expanded that joy by bringing his own children to fish, swim and run free at The Camp.
Jim graduated from Emerson College with a degree in communications. He went on to work for over Forty years in broadcast television enjoying many years as a member of the Emmy Award winning crew covering Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics games. Jim’s favorite memories from TV 38 were the beautiful summer nights working the Red Sox games with his dear friends on the crew and being able to bring his lucky boys Dan and Matt to many games.
Jim married Teri Alaimo, of Enfield Connecticut, on July 27, 1995 in the presence of a sunlit waterfall in Maine. Jim and Teri were in love throughout their 25 years of marriage, and shared a connection of heart, mind and soul.
Jim’s blended family consists of Daniel and his girlfriend Shane, and Matthew and his wife Cait, from his marriage to Kathyn Baker, and Sara and Nina from his union with Teri Alaimo. Jim’s children lit up his life.
Jimmy was a sweet soul. He showered his wife and children with love, and encouragement. Jim shared his many interests with his children including his love of music, travel, photography, nature and history. Jim wanted to teach them everything and show them everything. He led by
example modeling hard work and creativity. Jim had a special and unique relationship with each of his four children. Family was paramount to Jim.
In addition to his family, Jim is also survived by his kitty Chester who was spoiled and loved enough for ten lifetimes.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Thursday July 2nd, 2020 at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St, Franklin, MA from 5 to 8 pm.
