NO. READING – Dorothy Marie “Dottie” (Gardner) Dillon, age 67, a beloved wife, mother and sister, died peacefully at Sawtelle House Family Hospice in Reading, Saturday morning, June 27, after a courageous eight-year battle with Breast Cancer. She was the beloved wife and best friend of John F. Dillon, with whom she had celebrated a thirty-eighth wedding anniversary this past April 30.
She was born in Winchester, one of four daughters of the late John and Alice (Legrow) Gardner, and raised in Wilmington. She was a member of the Wilmington High School, Class of 1971. She began her working career at Diamond Crystal Packaging in Wilmington, worked as a secretary at Dynamic Research in Wilmington, worked as an elderly home care provider, but was mainly a “stay at home Mom,” devoted to the care of her family. Dottie was known for her energy, big heart and bright smile. She enjoyed Bingo with her in-laws, the late Hank and Rose Dillon, loved Ogunquit Beach in Maine, and throughout her life, cherished every step along the Marginal Way to bring peace to her soul.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Sean Michael Dillon of Melrose; a daughter, Tracey Lynn Dillon and her companion Patrick Famolare of No. Reading; two sisters, Patricia Fitzpatrick and her husband Robert of Andover; Eileen McNeil of No. Reading, wife of the late John F. McNeil; a brother-in-law, Daniel Cotter of Boston, the husband of her deceased sister Eva Cotter; her “in-laws” Paul Dillon of Derry, NH, Rosanne Dillon and her companion David Raffa of Templeton, Susan Dillon and her companion Nick Ramano of FL; dearest friends, Jackie Knight of Ashby, Susan Keeting of Wilmington, Dottie O’Donnell of Wilmington, and Sue Landers of Wilmington; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
With strict adherence to Covid-19 health precautions and social distancing rules, relatives and friends will be received for Memorial Visiting Hours on Sunday, July 12, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts.
