Obituary

Spencer: Brigadier Helen C.(Johnson) Eden, 91, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2006. Her first husband, Envoy Andrew Stallone predeceased her in 1963. They served together as Salvation Army officers in Worcester. She leaves 2 children from this marriage: Karen Andreacci of Wayne, NJ and son-in-law, John; and Andrew (Rick) Stallone of Spencer. Her husband, Brigadier Walter Eden, also a Salvation Army officer, predeceased her in 2001. They retired together in 1977, enjoying the tranquility of Sugden Lake. She leaves her stepdaughter, Katherine Doyle of Springfield, PA and son-in-law, James.

She also leaves 4 grandsons: Jeffrey Doyle and his wife Tracy of Brookhaven, PA; Jason Doyle and his wife Kelley of Ephrata, PA; Jason Andreacci of Tampa, FL; and James Andreacci of Wayne, NJ. She also leaves 3 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and 3 sisters predeceased her.

She was born on January 6, 1915 in Providence, RI, daughter of Svante and Hildur (Carlson) Johnson. She was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer/minister in 1936 in New York City. She served a life long career with her dedication of heart to God and hand to man.

As a minister in the Salvation Army, she served in MA, CT, NY, NJ, PA, and OH. She most enjoyed working with youth. She praised God in Swedish traditions at Lucia Fests and the string band, playing the accordion, guitar and piano. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of A.R.C.

Calling hours will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, at The Salvation Army Quinsigamond Corps.,62 Blackstone River Rd. (formerly Millbury St.) Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 25, in Highland Memorial Park in Johnston, RI.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Salvation Army, 756 Eddy St., Providence, RI 02903 for the new childcare center.
