Charlotte A. (Leon) Figueiredo, 96, of New Bedford passed away Saturday June 20, 2020 at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness. She was the wife of Manuel Figueiredo.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joaquim and Ann (Barros) Leon Ramos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where she was a member of the St. Martin dePorres Guild.
Mrs. Figueiredo was formerly employed as a peerless operator at the Acushnet Company. She later worked as a foster grandmother at the Ingraham School.
An avid sports fan, she especially enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel; her son, Carl F. Figueiredo and his wife Doreen; her sister, Benvinda Rose; two grandsons, Jacob and Corey Figueiredo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Barry A. Figueiredo, and her siblings, John Ramos, Beatrice Ramos, Mary Galvin, and Louise Cruz.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 27, 2020 at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday June 26th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. The attendance limit at church will be 50 persons and capacity will also be limited at the funeral home.
