William E. "Bill" Burke Jr., a resident of Watertown and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Sunday, June 21, 2020. He was 53 years of age.
Bill was born in Boston on April 24, 1967, a son of William E. Burke and Kathleen (Myers) Burke. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and attended the City Roots program before receiving his GED. Bill then went on to graduate from The University of Massachusetts - Boston with a degree in Psychology. He worked as a Peer Specialist for Eliot Community Services where he touched the lives of his patients and coworkers through his compassionate and empathetic nature. Bill was a proud member of NAMI as he struggled with mental illness most of his life and spent his life helping others with mental illness. He was a kindhearted soul who enjoyed helping people and spending time with his family.
Bill is the devoted son of William E. Burke and Kathleen (Myers) Burke. He is the loving brother of Colleen Cadger, Timothy Burke and his wife Sharon Whitt, Susan Zimmerle, Kellie Burke and Katie Burke. He is the beloved uncle to 14 nieces and nephews. He is the loving nephew of Steve Burke and his wife Bea, and many loving deceased aunts, uncles, and grandparents. He is also survived by his dear friend Michael Hayes.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill's visiting hours on Friday morning, June 26, 2020 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown, at 11 A.M. (FACIAL COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED INSIDE FUNERAL HOME & CHURCH.) His burial will be private.
