SPRINGFIELD – Jeannette Y. (Bourgeois) Bergdoll, 100, a longtime resident of East Springfield and a former resident of Indian Orchard was Called Safely Home on Friday, June 19, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Care One at Redstone in East Longmeadow surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Ludlow on December 17, 1919, a beloved daughter of the late George C. and Emma M. (Trombly) Bourgeois. She was raised in Indian Orchard, graduated in 1938 from the former Technical High School in Springfield and lived in Indian Orchard until 1999 when she moved to East Springfield. She was employed as an Inspector at the former F. W. Sickles Company in Chicopee and retired after 34 years of service. During her leisure time, Jeannette enjoyed reading, sewing, crossword puzzles, bingo and shopping at Savers. She especially enjoyed meeting her many friends and socializing at the Carew Street Branch of the Springfield Golden Age Club. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Henry Bergdoll who was Called Home on October 26, 1964; and her longtime friend and companion, Peter Cortelli, who was Called Home in 1999. She leaves her cherished nieces, Nancy M. Jay and her husband, George, of West Springfield, Margaret “Peggy” Garvey of Chicopee and Marilyn Kempesty and her husband, Anthony, of Ludlow; and her many friends. Sadly, she was predeceased by her feline companions, her cats, Baby, Ginger, Maggie and Angel. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, June 27, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. (Funeral Home and Church are limited to 40% capacity - social distance and face masks are required) Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Avenue, Indian Orchard, MA 01151. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. before the Mass.
