Joseph DelGrosso, age 88, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
Born in Watertown, MA on May 16, 1932, he was a loving son of the late Rocco A. and Angelina (Piantidosi) DelGrosso.
Joe spent his younger years living in Watertown. His family later moved to Providence where he was educated in Providence Schools. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country from 1952-1956 as a member of the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
A resident Mansfield for over fifty years, Mr. DelGrosso was a retired supervisor having worked for the Plymouth Rubber Company in Canton.
Family was truly the focal point of Joe’s life. He retired early from his job to serve his mother as a dedicated caregiver up till the time of her death at the age of 99 in 1989. He enjoyed crafts, walking, watching Turner Classic Movies, especially westerns and will always be remembered for his charitable nature.
He was the dear brother of the late Caroline Hovey, Viola Cavallaro, Thomas DelGrosso, Alfred DelGrosso and Augustine DelGrosso. He was the longtime loving companion of the late Mary Cheli, who is survived by her son Paul Cheli and his wife Pearl of Franklin. He is also survived by many loving and devoted nieces and nephews and his close friends Vincent and Maria Petrella of Mansfield.
Service, along with burial will be private. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
