McDONALD, Joseph C. Age 73, of Hyde Park, formerly of Roslindale, passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. Joe was a lifelong resident of Boston. Prior to losing his sight to retinitis pigmentosa, he was employed at Massachusetts Envelope Company, Inc. where he served as the shop steward for many years. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast. In 1977, he married the love of his life, Diane M. (Cummings) McDonald, who predeceased him in 2010. Joe and Diane raised their loving son, Joseph Jr. in Roslindale, MA. They enjoyed spending many weekends and summers at their vacation home in Woodsville, NH.
Joe was the son of the late Alphonse J. McDonald and Anna Marie Kane McDonald. He is preceded in death by his son Scott, USMC and brothers Jack (John Joseph), Lawrence (Larry), and Walter. In addition to Joe Jr., Joe is survived by his daughter Laurie and his brothers Thomas and his wife Ann, Kevin and his wife Kathy, and Michael. He is the beloved grandfather of Robert Michael and Samantha McDonald and was the treasured uncle of many wonderful nieces and nephews. Joe was a fun, intelligent man who will be remembered with great affection and love.
Visitation with covid-19 guidelines will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Monday, June 15th from 11am - 12noon. Followed by a funeral service beginning at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
