Dennis “Papa” Rimes, Sr., 81, of Okeechobee, Florida, died Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Florida.
Graveside services will be held.
Mr. Rimes was born January 29, 1939, in Avon Park, Florida to the late Mose Thomas and the late Dolly Rimes. He was a retired ranch hand and a pastor of Lorida Holiness Church of Lorida, Florida. Mr. Rimes was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Wilcox County, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rimes of Okeechobee, Florida; children: Dennis Edward Rimes, Jr. & Karen of Okeechobee, Florida and Buddy & Carlene Rimes of Irwin County; a daughter-in-law, Gina Rimes of Lake City, Florida; a step-son, J. R. & Tammy Bricker of Okeechobee, Florida; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Sylvia “Granny” Rimes; his youngest son, Joseph Allan Rimes; parents, Mose & Dolly Thomas; his adoptive parents, Arvilla & Lummy Rimes; six brothers and three sisters.
