Maria A. Barboza, age 53, of New Bedford passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on May 21, 2020.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of Vivian (Ramos) Barboza of New Bedford and the late Henry Barboza.
Maria was very spiritual and an active member of the Centre United Methodists church.
Maria was truly a kind, thoughtful and giving women. Her heart was filled with love and she had such a generous spirit. She donated monthly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, and the American Heart Association. Family was a high priority for her she tried to look after everyone. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a special heart, a fighting spirit, and a kind soul. God made a special place in Heaven for her and she will forever be mourned and loved.
Survivors include her mother; her daughter, Temple Barboza of New Bedford; a sister, Julianna Hines of Pawleys Island, SC; 7 brothers, James Hines of Boston, Brian Hines and his wife Rosa of Silver Springs, MD, Michael Barboza, Peter Barboza, Anthony Barboza and Todd Gomes, all of New Bedford, and Paul Barboza of Atlanta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, a public service will be held at a later date.
