Obituary


Leokadia ‘Laura’ Mieszczanski, 85, of Salem, passed away at Advinia Care Wilmington on Saturday, June 6, 2020 following a brief illness. Born and raised in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Michal and Ludwika (Hyrnaszkiewicz) Mieszczanski.
Laura came to the United States, with her family, in 1965 and settled in Salem. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a seamstress in the clothing manufacturing industry. A deeply religious woman she was a devoted member of the St. John the Baptist Parish now the St. John Paul II Shrine of Devine Mercy. She also was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. Laura enjoyed her home, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Dr. Stanley Burba and family, Krystyna Reksc and family, Waldek Prochorski and family, Theresa Zak and family, Laura Mikulewicz, Wanda King and family, Chris Mieszczanski and family, Richard Mieszczanski and family and Linda Silvertri and family. She was predeceased by her siblings Feliks, Joseph and Stanislaw ‘Stanley’ Mieszczanski, Wladyslawa ‘Alice’ Burba, Franciszka ‘Frances’ Prochorski, Maria Mikulewicz and Feliksa ‘Phyllis’ Mieszczanski. She was also predeceased by her nephew, Frank S.Burba and grand-nephew, David Aaron King.
Due to the current pandemic crisis, her funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers kindly consider a memorial contribution to the John Paul II Shrine of Devine Mercy, 28 St. Peter St. Salem, MA 01970.
