Clovis S. Barrett age 79 of Brockton, died May 29, 2020 at Good Samaritan Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Patsy (Vassell) Barrett for 53 years. Patsy died May 8, 2018.
Clovis was born and raised in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica a son of the late Lesley Barrett and Ruth Rowe and was a graduate of Munroe College in St. Elizabeth. He came to the United States in 1993 first living in Boston and settling in Brockton. Since 2002 he and his wife had lived with their daughter Megan and her family.
When living in Jamaica Clovis had been an art teacher in the public school system.
Clovis loved the arts, nature and collecting hats. He was a very spiritual man and was involved with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Plain Street. He was a very social man with strong morals. He was out-going, fun-loving and loved to dance.
Clovis is survived by his three daughters Janice M. Moore with her husband Neville Moor of Jamaica; Lavern Barrett-Reid with her husband Philip Reid of Brockton and Megan Bellamy-Samuels with her husband Garfield of Brockton. He leaves seven grandchildren: Lisa, Ray, Carson, Sandy, Jada (Abby), Torria and Jaden and four great grandchildren. Clovis was the brother of Edan Barrett, Amoy Barrett-Logan and Ambru Barrett.
Private funeral services will be held at the Conley Funeral Home followed by burial with his wife at Melrose Cemetery.
