Mr. James Stanley Josey, a resident of Medford, passed away at the Sancta Maria Nursing Center in Cambridge on Tuesday morning, June 2, 2020. He was 89 years old.
Born the youngest of eleven children in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 6, 1930, he was the beloved son of the late William and Mary E. (Chesley) Josey. Stanley was a graduate of Medford High School. He was a Korean Army veteran, entering the military at Ft. Banks on January 31, 1949 and receiving his honorable discharge from Ft. Devens on September 25, 1952. Stanley was awarded the Army of Cooperation Medal for his service and had served oversees in Germany. In civilian life, Mr. Josey worked as a Butler and Care Taker for a private family while he was a resident of New York City for many years. He spent the last five years in Massachusetts where he became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in West Medford, MA. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, walking, reading and going to church. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his sisters Mabel G. Josey of Medford, MA and Sylvia G. Bolden and her husband Edward S. Bolden of Medford, MA. As well as a host of Nieces and Nephews. Stanley was pre-deceased by his brothers William T. Josey Sr., Alphonsus G. Josey, Bernard C. Josey, and Coleridge M. Josey and his sisters Charlotte L. Collins, Magdalene S. Josey, Mary E. Brown and Leona C. Fremming.
