Obituary

Donald K. Clark, 73, of Westover, PA died Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his home.

The son of James Fred and Elizabeth “Libby” (Buterbaugh) Clark, he was born on September 7, 1946 in Garmantown, Cambria Co., PA.

Don greatly enjoyed growing up on his family’s farm with his parents, sister and brother, where included among his many tasks was milking cows and taking care of the chickens. Don was a graduate of Harmony High School.

A Vietnam veteran, Don was a member of the 197th Avn Co 10th Avn Group 3A. From April 10, 1967 to April 9, 1970, his service in the US Army as an SP5 included tours of duty in Vietnam, where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. Among his numerous commendations, he was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and the Air Medal. Don was a member of the Glen Campbell American Legion Post #435.

Don was an active member of the Calvary Evangelical Church, whose members he considered as extended family.

During his career as a coal miner, Don had been a boss at the Greenwich Collerries, as well as a co-owner of the K, M & C Coal Mining Company.

He was an excellent woodworker, who created many artistic works that are cherished by his family, friends and patrons. An outdoorsman, Don loved spending time outside and he particularly enjoyed mowing his lawn.

One of his favorite hobbies was restoring a 1969 Camero, to which he dedicated countless hours over the years.

Don married Ruth M. (Wolffe) on November 28, 1964. He thoroughly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of his heart.

Don is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Ruth of Westover, PA; his three children: Donald Clark and wife Robyn of Westover, PA; Bobby Clark of Westover, PA and Sonya Wallace and husband Fred of Cherry Tree, PA; his four grandchildren: Shandell McCullough and husband Kaleb of Northern Cambria, PA; Samantha Hugill and husband Dalton of Westover, PA; Paige Benton of Westover, PA and Kasie Wallace of Cherry Tree, PA; his four great grandchildren: Neveah, Damin, Donavan and Natalie Hugill and his sister, JoAnn Dudash of St. Marys, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jordan Clark and his brother,
James E. Clark.

Family and friends will be received from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Calvary Evangelical Church, 2922 Sylvis Rd., Cherry Tree, PA, where a 4:00 p.m. funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation. Pastor Clinton Pearsall will officiate. Military honors will be observed by the Glen Campbell American Legion.
