Thomas A. Donohoe, age 73, of Arlington, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2020. He was the beloved and devoted husband for 33 years of Catherine “Cate” W. (Powers) Donohoe.
Born in Boston, Tom was the son of the late James J. and Clare H. (Winterson) Donohoe. He was raised and educated in Winchester and was employed as a custodian at GSA (Government Services Agency) and at the Boston Conservatory.
An avid artist, Tom enjoyed painting with oil and watercolors in his spare time. Tom loved all music but especially The Beach Boys and attended many of their concerts in Boston over the years. Tom spent most of his summers, as a youth, at his parent’s cabin at Lake Sunapee where he loved to swim. Tom treasured the opportunity to travel with family. Most memorable were cross country camping trips with his family in their 1956 VW Microbus and in the 1970's with his brothers across New England, The Southwest, Rocky Mountains and California.
Tom also loved his trips to Canada, Europe and the Caribbean Islands with church groups and his wife Cate. They also loved to vacation at Rockport, MA.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Donohoe is survived by his siblings: James J. Donohoe, Jr. of Sterling, MA, Paul Carlson-Donohoe of Northfield, MN, Janet Clare Fradenburgh of Harvard, MA, and Phillip J. Donohoe of Austin, TX.
Tom not only faced all the challenges that life brought his way, he prevailed with grace and kindness.
