J. Guadalupe G. Tirado (Lupe), 89, Fillmore, CA, passed away on May 29th, 2020 at home in Fillmore surrounded by family. Lupe was born in Jalisco, Mexico to Gregorio and Micaela Tirado on May 10th, 1931. Lupe came to Fillmore at the age of 17 and worked in agriculture. He retired from the LA County Sheriff's Department as a heavy equipment operator. Lupe was known for his talent and ability to break horses. Lupe enjoyed breaking horses and working with a variety of livestock. He enjoyed the challenge of an unruly horse or mule. At Mule Days in Bishop, Lupe set many records with his great mule, Cookie. Lupe help create a new event called chariot roping with his great friend, Dennis. Lupe was a devout Catholic and found joy contributing and helping out any chance he could at church. One of Lupe’s greatest achievements is the day he became a citizen of our great nation. Lupe had an enjoyment of singing and enjoyed listening to a variety of music. Lupe is survived by his wife for 41 years Lydia, Fillmore, Ca, Son Frank(Karen) from Texas, Daughter Nini (Joe) from Arizona, Daughter Julie (currently in Germany), Son Greg (Annie) from Riverside, Ca, Daughter Carla (Henry) from Simi Valley, Ca, Daughter Regina(Gary) from Moorpark, Ca, and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Micaela; his son, Joseph; his brothers, Pedro and Salvador; and his sister, Margarita.
Everyone who knew Lupe knows he enjoyed good food, good music, and a good joke. He loves to laugh. Thank you everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and condolences. Well Lupe may be gone, but he’s not forgotten. He lives in the memories and hearts of all who love him. Mass and burial services will be Wednesday, June 10, 2020.
