WESTFIELD - Mark R. Stevens, 63, of Westfield, was Called Home on Monday, June 1, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on December 13, 1956, a beloved son of the late Raymond J. Stevens who was Called Home on February 25, 2000 and Evelyn E. (Nassar) Stevens who was Called Home on December 27, 2013. He was raised and educated in Springfield, graduated from the former Springfield Trade High School and had lived in Springfield until moving to Westfield in 1987. He was employed as a Court Officer for over 30 years at the Hampden County Courthouse in Springfield and Holyoke. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church and a member of the Marconi Club, both in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, hiking with his dog, Belle, and watching movies. He was known to everyone as a jack of all trades, could fix most anything and especially enjoyed working on cars. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Laura M. (Klinakis) Stevens. They were married at Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield on April 17, 1982 and were blessed with over 38 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving daughters, Leila Marie Trutanich, Esq., and her husband, Thomas Trutanich, Esq., of Redondo Beach, CA and Elise Marie Stevens, PhD, and her husband, Vineeth Hemavathi, Esq., of Medford, MA; his two cherished grandsons whom he adored, Marko Victor Trutanich and Ravi Ruth Hemavathi-Stevens; his loving brothers and sister, Joseph E. Stevens of Southwick, MaryAnne Shamatta and her husband, Louie Shamatta, of Atlanta, GA, Louis R. Stevens and his wife, Laura, of Russell, Paul A. Stevens and his wife, Louise, of Westfield, Michael J. Stevens of West Springfield and Raymond J. Stevens, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Longmeadow; his dear brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter Klinakis, Alice Moore and Thomas Klinakis, all of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the Stevens, Nassar and Klinakis families and numerous friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sisters-in-law, Donna LaCroix and Christine Stevens; and his dear brothers-in-law, Paul Klinakis and James Moore. His family will receive friends on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (Please limit your time with his family, face masks are required to enter the funeral home and only ten people are allowed in the funeral home at a time). Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118, (Please meet directly at the Church). His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
