Jeanne F. Carrier, 92, known as the Daffodil Lady of North Dartmouth died May 31, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Walsh) Carrier and sister of the late Joan A. Martin, Barbara Roderick, Aileen Johnson and Ramon Carrier.
She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and Boston University and at the age of 72 enrolled as a day student at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to study horticulture and landscaping where in 1998 she established the Daniel and Helen Carrier scholarship, served on the Board of Directors of the SHARE Foundation where in 2000 she established the David Roderick Fellowship and in 2018 established the Jeanne F. Carrier Scholarship.
In 1996 she was the 18,385th person nationwide to be certified for establishing a National Wildlife Federation Backyard Wildlife Habitat which now has over 4 million members. In 2003 Yankee Magazine recognized her for outstanding service to New England and its communities.
She was employed for 22 years at the F.S. Brightman Company and 30 years at Commonwealth Electric.
She joined the Greater New Bedford Garden Club in 1995 and enjoyed visiting mansions and gardens in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean.
Survivors include 12 nieces and nephews.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, her services and burial will be private for immediate family. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
