Abby J. Johnson, 78, of Tifton, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 at her residence. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ms. Johnson was born on July 9, 1927. She was the daughter of Julius Johnson and Hilma Bearman Johnson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, a daughter, Kathy Johanson; a son, David Barfknecht; and a grandson, Rory Barfknecht. She was of the Lutheran faith and held a degree in chemical dependency. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and enjoyed collecting dolls. She was a lifelong Minnesota resident and lived the last month of her life in Tifton.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Virkus of Clarkfield, Minnesota; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melody and John Wake of Tifton and Heidi and Dan Kachell of Forest Lake, Minnesota; a sister, Lorraine Hanson of Champlin, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
