Esther L. McManus, of Winchester for more than fifty years, past away Friday, February 17th. She was the beloved wife of the late Phillip J. McManus MD. Born in Woburn she was the daughter of the late Thomas K. and Susan B. (McCall) Lynch.
Esther was a graduate of Woburn High School and the Winchester Hospital School of Nursing. During her nursing career she was a private duty nurse in Winchester. Following her retirement she was a supervisor at the Winchester Hospital. Esther enjoyed gardening and gourmet cooking. She also enjoyed word-wide travel with her late husband and spending summers in Gloucester. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in EstherĀ“s memory to Hospice Care Inc. 41 Montvale Ave Stoneham, MA 02180 or to the Winchester Hospital Foundation, 41 Highland Ave, Winchester, MA 01890.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Esther is preceded in death by her brothers Thomas K. Lynch, Jr. and Dr. George W. Lynch, and sisters, Helen E. , Gertrude A., Marietta R. Lynch, Kathryn L. Mullin, and a nephew, Michael F. Lynch.
She is survived by her loving step-children Phyllis McManus Kennally and her husband John of Barrington, RI, Paul E. Mcmanus and his wife Karen of Palm City, FL and Alexandria, VA. She was the cherished sister of Doris T. Lynch of Woburn and is also survived by nine grandchildren, Ann K. Armater and her husband Ray, John T. Kennally Jr. and his wife Diane, Elizabeth M. Kennally, Michael F. Kennally and his wife Karen, Thomas V. Kennally and his wife Lisa, Phillip J. Kennally, Paige E. McManus, Philip J. McManus and Erin M. Wunder and her husband John. She is further survived by nephews William H. Lynch and his wife Nancy; Nicholas F. Lynch, nieces Marietta E. Lynch and Margaret Pearson and her husband James, and many beloved great grandchildren and grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, Thursday, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
