Providence – David Maranhas,71, of Dartmouth, MA. passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at HopeHealth Hospice Center following a period of declining health.
Born in New Bedford, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph A. Maranhas and Isabelle Inez (Souza) Maranhas.
He loved and treasured time spent with his family. David is survived by his four children, Amy Mello and her husband Troy, Keeley Maranhas and his wife Juntra both of New Bedford, Joshua Maranhas of Denver, Colorado and Jassan Robbins and his wife Lisa of North Carolina.
He has six grandchildren, Kalyn and Evan Mello, Nina and John Maranhas, Vivienne Maranhas and Jacob Robbins.
He has one sister, Lynne Hickney and her husband Richard of Dartmouth, three brothers Fred Maranhas and his wife Jayne, Joseph Maranhas and his wife Loretta both of Dartmouth and Leo Maranhas of Savannah, Georgia.
He was also the brother of the late Mario Maranhas and the late Andrew Souza.
He has a large family, that also includes several nieces and nephews, stretching out over many states. He was loved, and he will be missed.
David served in the United States Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal. David had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. He worked as a fork-lift operator for all of his adult life.
David's memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 17th at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10:00 A.M.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
