Darlene F. Simmons, 63, New Bedford died May 8, 2020 at St. Lukes Hospital.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Tereather (Jefferson) Simmons
Darlene lived in New Bedford most of her life and was raised in the United House of Prayer For All People.
She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her love of the Celtics, Cowboys and Red Sox. She also enjoyed playing cards with her closest friends, and having long laughs and bonding moments with her son.
Survivors include her loving son Robert and his partner Annette of New Bedford; 3 brothers, Theodore Simmons and his wife Frieda of Belgium, Rodney Simmons and his wife Barbara of Washington, DC and Thomas Simmons of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Lorraine Simmons of Boston, and Dinah Ferreira and her husband Michael of Fairhaven; 1 beloved grandchild Ayla Simmons, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Marie Simmons and Dana Judd and James Simmons.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, her public Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home at a later date when more family and friends. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
