Clair Edward Troxell, Jr., 87, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at his residence. A private graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Troxell on Friday, May 22, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. John Hughes will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Webb, Bobby Miles, Bill Johnson, Ken Strickland, Raymond Cook, Ronald Hand, Rayburn Martin, Gene Seigler, Deryck Perkins and Don Ferguson.
Born November 9, 1932 in Homer City, Pennsylvania, Mr. Troxell was the son of the late Clair Edward Troxell, Sr. and Virginia Hutchinson Troxell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Faye Davenport Troxell, to whom he was married for 58 years. He was retired from the ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service) office in Tifton. He was an active member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where he served on the Properties Committee; he was an usher; worked in security; and was very active in Vacation Bible School. In the 1950s, he played professional baseball for the Saint Louis Cardinals Organization and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Troxell is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ed III and Leslie Troxell of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Earl Pafford of Tifton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Regis and Mary Anne Troxell and Jack Troxell, all of Homer City, Pennsylvania; one sister, Rita Troxell Jones of Homer City, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Molly Pafford Richardson and her husband, Drew and Eden Troxell.
