Obituary

Harold A. Conrad, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 15 of natural causes.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 18, 1928, as the fifth of seven children to immigrant parents. Harold felt the call to Christian ministry early in his life, and after attending Anderson University from 1949-1952, he began serving the Church of God as a pastor. He led congregations in Akron, Indiana; Winchester, Kentucky; and Indianapolis, Indiana prior to serving as the Executive Secretary for the Board of Pensions for the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana.
After over 50 years of Christian ministry, Harold formally retired in 1994, but spent the next 16 years working part-time for the Pensions Board until he was 80 years old. He also spent his retirement speaking at numerous churches, traveling, gardening, and serving as an active member of the Park Place Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Chernosky Conrad (1956) and wife, Naomi Sweeny Conrad (2009), three brothers and two sisters.
Harold is survived by his four children, Deborah Hamer (Robert), Loren Conrad (Susan), Rebecca Towle (Patrick), and Paul Conrad (Tamara), as well as thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Harold was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He taught his family how to follow after the teachings of Christ, how to love others, and how to serve others with compassion. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all of us until we meet again.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at East Maplewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Anderson University-School of Theology to support future pastors.
